Communicate with Clarity!

This is the core of our training curriculum. Every piece we do is to focus on taking responsibility to ensure our dog understands our expectations. We have three different courses that work together to easily guide you to creating your own Dream Dog. 

CWC 101: The Foundation: Here you will learn about how dogs learn through positive reinforcement. You will create clear systems of communication through the use of markers. You will teach  your dog how to respond to you the first time you give a cue! While we will use pressure, we have the responsibility to truly teach our dogs first what we expect of them!  When we do this, it is important to remember that we are best learning things in a quiet environment. I don't take my 10 year old to a Baseball game and start teaching them algebra! Yet, we do this with our dogs all the time! I teach everything at home first! 

CWC 201: Thoughtful Use of Pressure: Learning how to use the least amount of pressure to get solid results. Pressure is a fact of life. If I don't pay my mortgage the bank takes my house. But as long as I pay my mortgage, I am not stressed about this. It's a rule I clearly understand. It is our job to spell out clear and consistent boundaries for our dogs in a thoughtful way. It is critical that we find the least stressful way for them! Our dogs can learn that there are things that they "have to" do, but still have personality, and sassiness. We are still teaching our dogs the rules here, so once again, I teach this at home in a quiet environment. 

CWC 301: Fluency: Learning how to maintain focus to handler despite all the distractions. Here is where most people think that they have their problem. They tell me that their dogs is great at home, but doesn't listen under distractions.  Most of the time, they haven't thoroughly laid the foundation at home, and once we do that AND understand the best way to approach distractions, then it all comes together!
